About Jia
“I have found it to be an honor to partner and support my clients through their healing journey. I believe in everyone's capacity to grow, and have found that therapy based on trust, respect and collaboration, along with the use of best practices transforms suffering to help people make meaningful change.”

Clinical Background
-
My therapy style is warm and compassionate, integrated with effective practices to help clients make sense of the challenges that brought them to therapy. I provide a safe and nonjudgmental space to facilitate exploration of their strengths and struggles, relieving distress and building skills along the way. As clients are ready, we use evidence-based approaches to help calm anxiety, strengthen relationships, and build inner strength. Most importantly, therapy is a collaborative process - I meet cilents where they are every step of the way.
It is a special privilege to work with children and teens in supporting their identity and self-esteem development. I recognize the importance of supportive figures throughout childhood and adolescence and consider it an honor when parents entrust me to hold space for their child's emotions, challenges, and growth. I strive to create a nurturing environment where young people feel seen, heard, and valued. Through a compassionate and collaborative approach, I support children and teens in building confidence, resilience, and a strong sense of self as they navigate the complexities of growing up.

Since transitioning into my second career in psychology, I have had the privilege of supporting children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families from diverse sociocultural backgrounds at Golden Gate Integral Counseling Center in San Francisco, CA. In my therapeutic work, I integrate my lived experiences and over a decade of working with individuals from various cultural and professional backgrounds in both higher education and the private sector. This breadth of experience allows me to bring an empathetic and culturally responsive approach to my practice.
I believe that healing happens within relationships. My approach is rooted in deep listening, curiosity, and a commitment to meeting each client where they are. Whether working with individuals or couples, I tailor therapy to honor their unique experiences and goals, using evidence based practices (such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Narrative Therapy etc.) within a psychodynamic framework - ultimately in support of building resilience, self-awareness, and meaningful connections.
