Therapy Logistics

Starting therapy at any time can be fraught with mixed feelings. If you have questions, we offer a no-cost 20-minute phone consultation to discuss what brings you to therapy.

Although it is common to feel some discomfort when meeting a therapist for the first time, good fit means you should feel enough safety and trust develop over time to be able to share your inner thoughts and feelings.  Often you will experience this goodness of fit beginning in the first session or two.

Sessions

Sessions are typically 50 minutes in length, occurring once a week.  Weekly sessions are optimal for therapy particularly in the beginning, providing a baseline level of consistency that is essential for the kind of depth of psychological work necessary for therapeutic change to take place. If a different frequency is needed, please don’t hesitate to discuss this with your therapist.

Fees

Session fees are within the range for the quality of client-centered, effective therapy our team delivers. We offer a portion of our therapy work at a sliding-scale based on availability and financial need. We are not currently paneled with insurance. Some health plans (typically a PPO or POS plan) allow you to choose an out-of-network provider for therapy services.  If you would like to seek partial reimbursement from your insurance, we would be glad to provide a monthly statement of services (or superbill).

A consistent therapy schedule involves the reservation of time specifically for clients. Thus, a minimum of 48-hours notice is required for canceling appointments, or the agreed upon session fee will apply. For rescheduling an appointment within the same week, 24-hours notice would suffice.
