FAQs

  • Will therapy work for me?

Therapy can be a powerful tool for transformation. Nurture’s unique clinical approach is grounded in compassionate, person-centered and evidence-based care (best practices proven effective by research). Some of the best predictors of therapy success include a strong therapeutic relationship, a willingness to self-reflect, and openness to trying new approaches. Finding the right therapist and approach is key, and we encourage you to start with a consultation to see if we are a good fit.

  • Do you take insurance?

We are not currently paneled with insurance. Some health plans (typically a PPO or POS plan) allow you to choose an out-of-network provider for therapy services.  If you would like to seek partial reimbursement from your insurance, we would be glad to provide a monthly statement of services (or superbill).

  • How much does therapy cost?

Session fees are within the range for qualified professionals practicing in California. We also offer a portion of our therapy work at a sliding-scale based on availability and financial need. You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate of the cost of your care. If you are planning to pay for services yourself, please ask your therapist about their fee before scheduling your first appointment.

  • Do you offer in person therapy?

Yes, we offer in person appointments at our San Francisco location, and online therapy across California.

  • Can I choose to be seen in-person or online?

Yes, you can choose which format of therapy works best for you. Please discuss this with your therapist during your initial phone consultation.

  • How do I book a phone consultation?

Once you send us your request via our contact form, a member of the Nurture team will reply on the same day, or within 24 hours. You’ll be connected over email with the therapist you have specified, or we are happy to match you.

  • How long should I expect to be in therapy?

We typically recommend weekly therapy for at least the first 2-4 months. Length of therapy depends on many factors, including your therapy goals, the depth of work needed and your willingness to engage in the process. Assessing and reassessing how therapy is working for you is a regular part of the Nurture approach. Please feel free to discuss this with your therapist.

  • How do I schedule my first appointment?

To get started, please reach out via our contact form. We recommend scheduling a free 20-minute phone consultation for us to better understand what brings you to therapy, and to answer your questions.

  • How long are therapy sessions?

Individual and couples therapy sessions are typically 50 minutes.
